Wow that a top grade house you've got going on there! We have similar problem, they dug out a tree leaving a massive hole which is constantly full of water or a muddy mess.

Not quite the same, but they did some tests in next door's garden for subsidence...didn't tidy up well, and now the DSs think that there is a lot of DINOSAUR POO in the garden.
