Usually about the same time as you move.

RichardCranium · 06/12/2009 21:58

when we moved from Scotland to Portsmouth we got ours afterwards, can't remember how long afterwards though.

deafworm · 07/12/2009 12:07

we have recently moved and put it in around 45 days before the move, it comes in the next payday as long as you get it in before the pay run around the 13th of the month. there is a limit to how far before you can put it in but psf (raf personnell effectively i think, not sure what service you are or what acronyms you have!)told us 28 days but JPA accepted it before then.

good luck

madwomanintheattic · 07/12/2009 16:50

you can put it on the system 6 weeks prior to lta date. in theory it is usually in your bank fairly shortly after that - ours took about 7 days, but i suspect it might be the next normal pay-run.

Saltire · 08/12/2009 19:28

OK ,DH start date in new place is 22nd feb, however we are taking over and moving into MQ on 2nd feb!
Can he apply for it now, or must he wait till january?

OP posts:
Saltire · 14/01/2010 09:27

Well,DH has put the claim in with JPA. We seem to be getting conflicting info about when it's paid though, some people say within 7 days of claim, some say on payday, otehrs say after we move!
Nothing is straightforward with the military is it?

Well DH put his in on 10th January, as he said JPA wouldn't let him put it in any sooner. I hope it gets paid in Januarys pay, as we are skint and have school uniform to buy. of course I got no pay whatsoever this month because I am leaving!

I think it's shocking that people are supposed to wait sometimes until after they move, for an allowance that is meant to help them with the move.

My husband has just been informed that he couldn't apply for disturbance until after he started his new job - he did this and because it was approved after the 15th of the month, it won't get paid until the end of Feb! It's only the singly rate (£90) as we're staying put while he works in London but it's still a bit of a nuisance!

Disturbance used to paid separately to pay, didn't it?

Saltire · 20/01/2010 09:36

It used to be paid as an allowance mid month, it never used to go into teh salary.. I remember that, in fact I am 99% certain that our last lot of DA (in 2007) was paid mid month! Will need to check. I have never heard of personnel having to wait till they started their new job.

like I said I think it's shocking,- we have got
£300 cleaner
£70 hotel
£xx school uniform
Gas and electric final bills
£60 to get Sky reconnected (although that can wait, I'm not bothered)
Petrol
and I'm sure there's more.
Will wait and see if it goes into DH's pay this motnh - next Friday is payday isn't it

I have just checked and our last lot of disturbance was paid in Mid May 2007 - we moved first week of June. it definately didn't go into teh salary, and was paid before the move, not after

herbie - I was speaking to the woman at the raf familes federation and she agreed with me but said they cannot bring the complaints up with the relevant people unless personnel let them know it's happening? maybe you should mention it to them.

I said to DH what is the point in issung an allowance to help with removal costs if people are going to end up being skint ofr a month or 2?
you're correct it was a BACs payment. How come they can pay travel claims within 2/3 days but not this?

Need an insiders guide to Scotland.
We're planing a move from London to areas around Aberdeen thinking Ellon, Stonehaven distance from the city. We have a 12 yr and 10 yr old (need secondary school) and a 5 yr old (need a primary school) my OH is a carpenter so looking at building work probably in town so an "easy" commute (drive) would be good! Any help would be gratefully received. Thanks map tired mum!

TheresSomebodyAtTheDoooorrr · 17/09/2018 07:05

Can I derail a bit and ask how much DA is these days Smile ? Due a move soon-ish and panicking a bit about how I'll be able to pay DS's nursery fees up front!
