I tried this in chat but hopefully I'll get more luck here. Is it a first class stamp to post a letter to a BFPO address in Germany?

Yes. BFPO is the same as the UK, wherever it is (except some operational addresses, when it's free).

Yes, and make sure you do NOT put Germany in the address. All BFPO post gets delivered to the BFPO centre from whence it is sent out all over the world.
