Any of you with 2 Sigs in York?

Slight chance we could be heading there. Wondered what the MQs are like? What are transport links like? My HO is in Sheffield and wondered if it'd be commutable. Are there decent pre-schools?
Do they deploy a lot? Any tours on the cards this year?
Any info greatly appreciated.

Bumping for you.

Thanks puzzle but it looks like no-ones here - either that or they're just a really unfriendly bunch

Hi there, just saw your thread, my fellas heading there in May. We went to have look at the base at the weekend, its literally nearly in the center. We live in Cleethorpes, and he is going to try and commute each day, takes just over an hour. Hope that helps xxx

A friend of ours works there. MQs are not bad; either round the corner from the barracks, or in a village just north of York called Strensall.
Driving into York in rush hour is not a barrel of laughs, so plenty of people cycle. Buses are OK but get caught up in the same traffic.
On the plus side, the barracks are really close to the city centre. A couple of very good pre-schools locally, depending on whether you're looking for state or private.
Feel free to ask any questions!

Thanks folks, but they've dashed our hopes of going to York and we're now heading for Wiltshire! Oh well, maybe next posting.
