dh been posted and not aloud to phone, use internet.

Dh was posted on the 3rd November, not due home until January. Up until recently we have been able to talk via phonecalls and internet access. But this week they have barred all calls and he is no longer allowed to contact me. (I know this as he txt me,but not even sure he was allowed to do that).

I am trying not to be too concerned as it's probably nothing. But my mind keeps racing with possibilities of why he cant call.

His base is fairly close to everything that is going on in Zimbabwee (sp) at the moment. Do you think they may have clamped down on security while they are trying to deal with the issues surrounding Mugabe?

What other reasons would they call for no contact with families.

They generally stop all contact before something big is about to happen or if someone has died so that next of kin can be informed before it becomes general knowledge.

Obv because it has been a week since you have been contacted and you have txting then your dh is fine as you would know otherwise by now.

I would assume it is a security thing. Unfortunately one of the worse sides of being a "forces sweetheart" is that we know too much which means we panic more if situations change.

Hope you hear from him again soon; the longest dh has gone in compete silence was 3 weeks (last gulf war) so the wait should not be too much longer. Is there a welfare number linked to dh's unit that you can call?

It must be a security issue - terrorists/rebels/freedom fighters whatever you want to call them can listen in on phone calls which could give away info about where your DH is posted, what they are up to etc. its not nice for us left at home, but it does happen.
Also if soemone ahs died, or been injured all contact is cut until next of kin been informed

I fourth it being a security issue. You would probably have heard by now if something had happened to your DH/his unit.

The only other possible reason I can think of is some kind of excerise - OH sometimes can't call or e-mail for a while because they're playing games, but then you would probably have known in advance. I guess they might spring it on them though?

Thanx for your replies. I just heard from him. He says he doesn't know why contact was off but everything seems to be ok. Am feeling better now he has phoned, just off to chat to him on msn.
