Ok, so I know i'm not supposed to say where he is going. But I am trying to find out more about the country.

Dh thinks it's a peace keeping type affair. But when I google all I get is luxery holiday breaks.

It's obviously not somewhere like Iraq or other high profile case.

I am slightly as he is going to be away over christmas. So I should hope it would be something important enough to take him away from his family at this time of year. But at the same time hope he isn't going into a hostile type situation.

I know we're not supposed to know but I would feel better knowing.

Can anybody help?

Look at the foreign office website - they have loads of info on each country and their risk of terrorism and other situations.

this is the site

ah. if he's going where i think he might be going, you can book a holiday and go for a week or so at christmas! i know a few who have taken the opportunity... and enjoyed it very much. getting shot at isn't necessarily an indication of the importance of a presence, so try not to judge whether it's 'worth' him being away over christmas or not by that... if he speaks to someone who is there now, they'll be able to tell him whether any wives visit... you might not see him a lot, but they should be able to tell you whether it's possible...
if it's not there, forget i mentioned it.

otoh, i went on holiday to a lovely place an hour outside venice to visit my bf whilst she was busy earning medals. i found it hilarious that i was there to eat pasta and take photos whilst she was earning a gong and getting extra cash.

ours is not to reason why, etc etc etc.

Oh yes, if it is where I think it is then book up and go. Sorry he will be away for Christmas though.

VanillaPumpkin · 09/10/2008 21:47

Oh I just googled what I thought and got an airline website and then some more interesting ones....no luxury holidays though so perhaps I was wrong....

Sorry, pg brain forgot i'd posted here.

Thanx for your replies. I dont think I will be going there for a christmas break tho. Dh is having to leave 3 weeks earlier then the others going out there as they are ferrying the merlin out there and tht's how long it takes by boat. So can imagine it would be quite a long haul by plane.

Not to mention neither me nor my 3 kids have passports. So think the expense would be too much.

I'm coming to terms with the fact he will be going, was just having a little sulk.

Thanx again for your help tho.
