As well as the mail redirection, I paid to have BT put a special answer phone message on my old number giving out my new number.

LL

We are doing it without disturbance allowance (Eek!) as we have got hands on big quarter with fabulous garden round the corner. Move in three weeks but don't actually know the address yet . And after all my claims to never do a march out clean, I will be doing this one . Will be worth it though.

Big quarter for us. Still three bedrooms. Fab garden though. That is why I am moving! Moving from OR's quarter to Officers quarter heehee. Seeing how theother half live. Tis cheaper too as lower grade.

Yippee LL

Thanks FourArms. That is very useful. I think six months is enough. What did you go for? That will include Christmas, and so anyone we might have missed otherwise.

If you're only moving locally, I'd have a word with the new tenants and ask them to pass the mail over when you call round. You'll probably be able to move your BT number won't you?

There was a story on our street of somebody keeping a key for their old house and popping round to check the mail each morning as they only moved across the street. Even after new occupants moved in.

I wouldn't stress about cleaning. They've got so lax these days. Not that I'm saying it's OK to skimp, but they don't expect the insides of cisterns etc to be cleaned these days. Check out the prices for private companies though. Ours was £160 (Officers Quarter, was cheaper for non-Officers), and included cooker and carpet cleaning. To have hired a carpet cleaner would have been £40 plus, so well worth it IMO.
