Hi all. Just a quick question. My friend has just split up with her dh who is in the RAF. They've been at Brize for 5yrs (married for a lot longer though) and have 2 kids. She's in a bit of a state at the moment as her dh has moved into single accommodation. How long should she have to find somewhere else to live? None of us have any idea on the protocol.

She will be entitled to stay in the MQ for 93 days (3 months) until she has to move out. Good luck to your friend.

Oh that's great, thanks guys. Her dh is being a told d*ck at the moment saying that she has to get out of the house this wk! I think she will go to stay with her parents for a while until she finds a place of her own. She just wants to get everything sorted here first. I will let her know. Thanks again.

Make sure she speaks to the Families Officer too for proper advice/guidance.

I think he is entitled to a 90 day "cooling off" period in the block after which he either has to move back in with her or change his status. She gets 93 days in the quarter after her DH changes his status to separated. After that she will be served an eviction notice and be charged commercial rental, but she cannot be made homeless and will be able to apply for housing benefit and use the eviction notice to apply for a council house or whatever.
