The house we've been allocated now has half its garden given over to an Astroturf football pitch full of sweary teenagers - and apparently there's a drug problem too!
Am getting advice from BT on other places to live

Can I out myself as a lurker? It was just something said above, something like are non forces people reading this and thinking we're talking in code? I just wanted to say that my granny just died, and my grandad (who died last year) was in the army all his working life (they had 9 kids in various places around the world!) so coming on to your threads just gave me a bit of a flavour of what her life might have been like, iyswim. My mum won't really talk about growing up on bases if I ask her, I don't know why. My auntie (her sister) went into the MOD so it can't have been that bad a childhood?

Sorry, I will run away now!!

Very well thanks, just lurking about the FS threads as usual.

Must get the bratlets together soon, DHs best friend (our neighbours daughter) moved yesterday and she is really low, so I am trying to keep her busy..

Meant to say it was so funny when we lived in Shriv. Lots of the wives hiked up the road to Oxford to sprog their babies in the John Radcliffe rather than the Swindon General. They thought it would give their little ones a better chance in life to have Oxford, rather than Swindon, on the birth certificate!

MuchLessTiredNow · 07/06/2008 20:13

yes, that happened a lot when we were there too - despite the fact that swindon was an easy 10 mins away, and was brand new with gucci equiment and free single rooms, compared with a creaky John Radcliffe a difficult 40 mins away at non rush hour time - my neighbours said 'how can you BEAR to have Swindon on his birth certificate' - sigh..... how I miss it

well, it's a flipping fertile place. I had both ds's there within 18 months, and in BG alone there were 7 in my second year that had babies - my theory is that being around all those pregnant women sends your hormones into overdrive!
