Headley Court to get £24 million from govt!

Just heard on the news that Headley Court is to receive 24 million pounds. Just thought I'd share this brilliant news! It has been a disgrace that they have had to raise money themselves and via charities when they are providing a service to our injured people.

So the Governemnt can find money when they feel like it! I feel the same about charities such as St Dunstans, or the Ghurka Welfare trust. Why should organisations which help men and women who served their country have to rely on public donations?

Des Brown is there today I believe. As is my dh incidentally....
I think I heard the money is to go towards new accomodation and to improve and increase the size of the prosthetics lab .
Joe Public has no idea.
That Ross Kemp documentary should have been on the BBC primetime.

MotherOfGirls · 06/05/2008 12:25

Didn't get the documentry on freeview. Are there any plans to show it again?

Is your husband working there VanillaPumpkin, or having treatment? Hope it is the former

you can buy the ross kemp dvd in the shops.

VanillaPumpkin · 06/05/2008 16:14

DH is working there today thankfully! The more publicity that place gets the better though imo. He is just doing a visit .
The Ross Kemp thing is doing re-runs on Sky so no Freeview yet, though as kerryk says you can buy it.
Personally I wouldn't buy it. Though it is essential viewing imo it is hardhitting and not the sort of thing you would watch repeatedly for pleasure iyswim. Perhaps you could rent it though? tbh if you are involved with the Army at all you prob know what it is all about.

MotherOfGirls · 06/05/2008 16:33

Thanks for that kerryk and VanillaPumpkin. Yes, I know what it's about and that my DH is keen to watch it but I didn't know it was out on DVD. I have just put it to the top of my Amazon DVD Rental List, so should receive it soon after I return our last film.

Glad your DH is fit and well VanillaPumpkin

I cried during at least three of the six episodes, but esp the last one. And what the Royal Anglicans were doing in Helmand is what the soldiers are doing out there every day.

MotherOfGirls · 06/05/2008 16:55

Looking forward to it less now - but I feel it is probably required viewing.
