Passing out parade

I'm looking for advice or help from those with more experience!
My husband is hopefully passing out from Sandhurst next week as a Chaplain after completing the PQO course.
My dilemma is what do I wear?! I'm not going to the chapel service, frustratingly, as there's not enough tickets for the children but I am expected to attend the lunch.
As a fairly boring size 16 trainee vicar I have no idea where to look or what's expected on the day.
Anyone have any tips or ideas as I'm running out of time!

How lovely. Congrats to your dh
I would wear a nice suit?

I recently went to a passing out parade and it was smart dress but not too dressy…women wore maxi dresses/ not too revealing dresses/ jump suits or just trousers with a nice blouse / top. Men wore suits, but just a shirt with a nice pair of trousers was fine too. I’d think similar to what people would wear to a christening rather than a wedding if that helps?! It was a really celebratory day - I’m sure whatever you choose will be lovely, enjoy it

I'd rather wear a dress, I'm just struggling with the dress code! Evening dress I can do, casual I can do but the formal lunch is stressing me out. Its his day and I want to get it right for him. Its been a tough 11 weeks of training.

I would wear a dress, maybe wrap style, dark with a small pattern
smart knee boots
cardi
we went to my sons at Dartmouth, definitely not wedding but suits rather than jeans!

Thanks for that suggestion, that is the sort of thing I'm leaning towards, something muted but nice. I have a very similar dress but in a bright pink and I really don't want to stand out so looking for something new. I wish he was passing out in the summer!

Hope it went well. I am going to my sons passing out parade next month and have no idea what to wear. He’s not at Sandhurst though so I believe not as formal as it would be there.

It did thanks, think I worried too much. It was freezing cold and the stands were dripping icy water from the overnight freeze!
I'd go with a nice dress/ trousers and top and a warm coat!
