Can anybody tell me what a DO is meant to do?

Having a major situation here with DH, which has just ended up with him being sacked from his job.

Thanks ST, DH is at Raleigh at the mo. We are in Plymouth as no MQ's left in torpoint or any private rentals available over there. DH gets the ferry every day. Not a massive move. We are going to Culdrose, village between Mullion and Helston.

LOL at Ginsters - shouldn't be allowed to call them pasties let alone Cornish!! Although think they are made somewhere in Cornwall, can't remember where. My MIL makes the best pasties ever

DH was born in Penryn, MIL and FIL are still there, my M & D are in Falmouth, where I went to school!! So I am definately going home! DS will start at the village school in Sept, which has a grand total of 30 pupils. That's what I love about it there, that at being surrounded by beautiful coastline. We wanted the children to have the same childhood we had, only they will be slightly more rural.

Didn't realise you weren't in the UK. What delightful country have you been posted to then? Is your house near Torpoint? We were in No Mans Land the other day, having the children's photos done.

TTM I'm in Belgium at the moment for DHs second job here. Our house is in the Tamar Valley not far from Cotehele, but I have been here for 18 months, whilst DH was out here prior to that. Ginsters are made at Callington, and the smell wafts somewhat on occasions!

I bet you'll be glad to get out of Plymouth - we had a house there, but it was a relief to move back out to the country again.

Hope your DH is happier now.

LL - lets hope the Lt Cdr here wasn't your DHs and my mutual acquaintance!

tinytotmummy · 13/03/2008 14:13

Sorry ST, I'm sure I posted you a reply. I remember writing one, anyhow. It's those pesky kids!!!

We venture over to Gunnislake most weekend as DS's favourite place is the Donkey Park.

Dh is much happier now, booked on courses to use up his education credits, so even less time at work!

Will be glad to get out of Plymouth, it has been nice because all the amenities are on our doorstep, but I'm looking forward to a sea view and open countryside.

That's ok LL, I should think you have much more interesting and important things to put in your emails!

Still waiting to hear back from NPFS and the padre re compassionate drafts and organising a formal meeting. He has found another DO, and the padre is going to brief him on the situation. Don't think anything will happen this side of Easter leave now.

He is very bored at work, but says that the other lads working with him are great and his two best mates who he was instructing with are doing their last week this week(one's going outside, one's being drafted), so I think he's glad to be out of it now.

Thanks so much for your help and reading all my twaddle!

Oh I'm glad he's got a new DO!

My emails are soooo thrilling - "DS has a bit of a cold, Today we went to Waitrose" - exciting!

HerReasonableness · 13/03/2008 15:21

(it's LL, obviously, just having a silly name day)

Notyummy · 13/03/2008 15:30

Glad to hear it is settling down slightly and that your DH is feeling better.

tinytotmummy · 13/03/2008 15:58

LL, I remember sending lots of emails like that! But if I didn't send one every day, DH got rather offended! A day in the life of a SAHM and a (then) 4m old baby is not exactly the most inspirational material.

Thanks so much notyummy.

It's been great talking everything through on MN

TTM - the donkey park is just on the border of St Anne's Chapel and my village...spent many happy hours asleep on the grass whilst DS hurtled down that slide or did the ripwire. Have you been to Dogballs Dobwalls as well?

tinytotmummy · 13/03/2008 16:46

lol ST

Only went to Dobwalls in my youth, tis closed now Think they are turning it into a holiday park, or something. Dobwalls bypass is busy being built as well, so the A38 is a bit dire at moment.

Yes, both DS and DD1 are obsessed with the soft play barn and giant sandpit. Bloody freezing though in there this time of year. Have to make sure I get a table beneath a heater - I will fight off the tourists if need be - so I can be comfortable reading my book/feeding DD2/eating the children's picnic lunch(they are too busy play to eat, seems a shame to see it go too waste)

Our weekends consist of the Donkey Park, the Aquarium and China Fleet. Can you tell who has the majority vote in this house?

scaryteacher · 14/03/2008 10:11

Sandpit new in the last 2 years then! We are coming back to stay with Mum in Tavi for a week in August - can't wait! Coffee in Dukes, and real cappuccino, which they don't do in Brussels - just coffee with whizzy cream on top. It'll be bliss, Waitrose at Saltash and M& S as well.

catzy · 14/03/2008 13:48

Glad to hear you sorted out a new DO. Hope that improves things abit.

Not long to go now.

tinytotmummy · 15/03/2008 19:46

Thanks catzy. New DO is great, DH is hoping he'll send him to Culdrose on loan for the next few months.

ST, new M&S food hall at Cronwhill retail park
