Dating a soldier

I am trying to find a support group that is for military girlfriends but all I find are ones for wives.

I have been dating a soldier for a couple of years and new to all this. I can cope with the long distance thing, going weeks or months without seeing each other but it can get lonely. I would love to know if there is a support group or peer group I could join.

@Yamyamlass hey! I have also tried finding support networks and have really struggled - apparently there's quite a few on Facebook if you're on there, it's just knowing which ones are more suited for you.

Nobody would mind if you joined a wives group, given that you are in a long term partnership.

Hey! I wouldn't worry about the semantics of wife vs girlfriend really. I'm a girlfriend but I've been with my partner longer than most have been married at our age. The problems are usually the same. My partner is new to the army and the whole process has been very lonely to be honest, now he's getting posted and ill likely move with him but I'm really scared of what it will be like to be honest. There's lots of support out there though! Just join the wife groups as many people aren't married now adays

I hate the wives and gfs groups to be honest. Personally they make me feel worse.

I was an army wife for many years and you will have many problems as you are not really next of kin .Officials will spend there money on next of kin but not a girlfriend .
