My dh travels extensively and has been away on and off ever since March (I was pg 6 months). Since then he was here in June for the birth but was away for most of the summer, just at home for odd week-ends.

You and your boys will adjust to his absence. This is both essential and problematic as you get used to coping with everything by yourself (and then when he comes home you start thinking "so who are you to upset all my routines and get in my way" sad )

Find somewhere to spend Xmas, either with your family or your in-laws so that the boys get the full heaps of pressies and too much to eat experience!
