Forces sweethearts

If you have a family member in the Royal Navy, RAF or army, find support from other Mumsnetters here.

In the name of friendly rivalry and because it happens so rarely I would like to shout about the RAF winning something.

The RAF Rugby League team have beaten both the Navy and the Army to win outright overall this year. My DH is involved with the squad and they are all VERY VERY happy. At least they were last night. I think they are mostly nursing hangovers today. So a public well done from me.....

Skyler - what is your husbands name? My DP was a RAF rugby chap until he got posted to satelite station in S.Wales - I know he would be chuffed to hear about this!!!
the last time they took part when DP was playing, I went up north to watch and ended up getting very drunk (I don't even understand rugby). It is a rare occasion that the RAF come up trumps (ex RAF netball lass) so when they do hoorah!!!!
My DP is Marcus Ross!!!!

hey!!!! Well done...I am ex-RAF and dh is still serving. We NEVER usually beat them at rugby...something about being the more cerebral rather than physical of the the forces....

Yay, well done you lot

(we keep getting thrashed by the Army in Union )

Notyummy · 06/12/2007 22:40

I went out with a Navy guy (many moons ago now) who was in the Navy team who beat the Army at Union. I think the match was in 95 though...have they won since??!! He was actually the fly-half who scored the winning try.....and did like to tell EVERYBODY about it. I wasn't going out with him for the game itself, but watched the video just a few (hundred) time afterwards (with appropriate commentary from bf)

It is me Skyler in my new guise.
My dh doesn't know yours I am afraid Alibaabaa. He is involved with the coaching of the League team, though he did play for the Union side when he was very very young and Rory Underwood was still in the squad .
The best fun I had at the rugby was at the Army Navy game in Twickenham in about 98??
I have never seen so many naked men . We went with a friend who is now a Navy Navigator somewhere.......
