I know most of us probably have issues with DHE but just needed to sound off. 8 weeks and I have no running hot water. I have to switch the heating on to get any. Reported and they forgot to come for the appointment!!! They rearranged and the heating bloke said he just needed to order new parts and they'd be 2 weeks. ANother bloke came with parts 2 weeks later and they were wrong we needed a new boiler. 2 weeks later a bloke came out to do a quote and said we needed one and new pipes and he'd put the quote in that was 2 weeks ago and we've not heard anything and every phone call I make they are always getting back to me.

I shouldn't be suprised I reported the mould in my bathroom when I went on maternity leave (DD is 10 months old). Needed a bigger fan in the bathroom. 3 blokes came 1st time forgot the core cutter, 2nd time tried to fit a new fan that was the same size as the inadequate one 3rd bloke bigger fan no core cutter!!! Result I scrub mould off bathroom regularly.

loopybear. Its not DHE it's MHS (Modern Housing Solutions, but more like Making Homes Shite)

I've actually been quite lucky with them - they've done what they needed to do in a reasonable timeframe, but I have heard some truly awful stories.

One idea that might help. There is an Army Website called ARRSE.co.uk They regularly have a guy from MHS on there and lots of people give him lots of grief. However, it seems that he is one of the good guys that actually tries to do something to help.

If you log on and do a search for MHS you should be able to find the forum. I know they have printed lots of phone numbers there for making complaints as well - and ones that go right to the top.

Sorry mumsnet for advertising another website, but I think they shoudl eb able to help.

We had the same, waited 5 months for a new boiler!

Sorry to be bearer of bad news, but Im with you and they are CRAP!

So much for MODERN housing solutions, try ANCIENT modern solutions!

I may be wrong loopybear, but I'm sure it's a policy that if you have children under 5 in teh house then they have to make sure you have heating and running hot water. of course I could be completely wrong, an having been used to prime Contract in Scotland (the equivalent of MHS) maybe we were just lucky with them

Having lived here for almost 3 weeks I have to say that MHS are crap, in comparison to the Prime Contract anyway. Our grass was about a foot high when we moved in and we were told "contracters will be round to cut it" - we are still waiting. We have reported 3 windows being unable to close,a drip under the sink which fills a small bowl every day, and we are still waiting for it to be fixed

jinxed · 22/06/2007 09:32

We reported 4 faults yesterday, and told someone would be out next week to fix all of them.

At lunchtime they phoned and said there was an engineer wanting work and could he come and look at the shower. He did, but he couldnt fix it, so we will have to wait i dont know how long.

We had a hole in our fireplace where they took the old fire away and it only got replaced with a new fire last week - the hole had been there since november.

We had to put cardboard over it to stop the kids trying to climb up the chimney!

Im not looking forward to being under DHE. In N Ireland we were given a 4 bed house for me,DH and DS1&2 without even asking for one. Any repairs we have needed have been delt with within 24 hours no matter how trivial. (one bloke even turned up to mend something we hadn't even reported!!?!!) We have already had a run in with DHE about our house at Dishforth after they tried to give us a three bed house despite DS1 being Autistic and us expecting DS3 as we arrive on the mainland. The 'lovely lady' in DHE thought it was reasonable for DS2 (aged 6) to share with DS3 (soon to be newborn). We had letters supporting our need for the extra bedroom from a Consultant, GP, Health Visitor and Welfare Officer but the 'lovely lady' decided she wasn't going to give us the 4 bed even though we had visited Dishforth and given her the addresses of many 4 bedroomed houses that were empty!!?!! We only got the 4 bed when DHs CO got involved, since then trhe 'lovely lady' had manged to change our new address 3 times. I dread to think what will happen when we need a repair doing.

There are some really nice people working in both DE and MHS/Prime Contract. There are also some complete to$$ers. Miss Pitstop, you have had dealings with the latter.
DE have been great with us. We had to turn our intial offer of a MQ down, and the housing officer was being really horrible, saying there were absolutey no quarters availiable anywhere in Portsmouth/Gosport or Fareham and I would hav eto wait until November to get one. 6 days later it switched over to the HICs and DH got a phone call telling us there were 3 empty MQs in fareham and he could choose which one he wanted.

tinytotmummy · 22/06/2007 19:18

Loopy, sympathise with you completely, but no advice to give I'm afraid. MHS left us without a boiler (deemed as dangerous) for two weeks. Have had lots of complaints with them, none of which have ever been resolved and I have just given up ringing - noone ever wants to take ownership.

damodad · 02/07/2007 15:25

MHE are a waste of space, the bottom line is they will get paid even if their customers aren't happy !! it's not like you can withhold their money or not pay your rent until the problem is sorted.

I bet they would buck their ideas up if they got paid bugger all until we said we were happy with their work !!
