We're moving to Shrivenham in September. Any advice on the best quarters? Also need baby friends! Are there any groups or anything nearby? Smile

My husband is at Shriv right now and said that there is quite a bit of pressure on quarters. He's unaccompanied on this tour but on a previous tour we had a quarter on Days Ground (just outside the village) and had friends on the Watchfield patch. I don't know about baby groups etc but there is a scout troup and my husband's course has been very sociable.

We were in Watchfield - very active social scene, tons of things for little people to do (crèche were great with dd2) but we were there a while back now. I don't imagine much has changed Grin Have you been allocated your quarter yet?

We were in the older houses just behind camp in Bower Green. They were lovely houses, albeit with a few space issues (like having to have the washing machine and tumbler in the outhouse) but it worked fine.

Across road was another Bower Greeen cup de sac with more square shaped homes and next to that estate was the newer housing estate like any modern civvie housing estate.

I had friends in houses in watch field and on the main road.....older quarters. I had a friend in a Roman Road quarter and they were perfect. Lovely square rooms, pretty good square kitchen and utility and fine garden. They were PFI quarters though so that's why I guess.

Ooh and another friend lived in a quarter in Faringdon.....lovely market town with sweet shops and good services.
