Anyone in Torpoint?

Hello,

We are relocating to Torpoint in early September (from the NE) for my husband's work (RN). He knows the area quite well from working there, but not really in terms of amenities for us as a young family - we are both late 20s with a toddler and new baby due in a few months.

I'm just wondering if anyone lives there, or knows the area, and can give me any tips on places to go and things to do? I know there's a children's centre there which we'll definitely go to, and I've found another toddler group, but not much else. Are there any children's parks?

We'll be living just off the main road (Trevol?) and I'd love to find things within walking/short car journey distance, and not need to get the ferry into Plymouth too often?

Any info would be very much appreciated.

Thank you! X

If you haven't, might also be worth posting in the local section? I only happened to see this as DP is a reserve and thought I'd check the board out (he doesn't pass out until Oct so a while for me yet) but I'm from Plymouth and so know the area...

Torpoint isn't the loveliest place in the world but does have nice little shops and tea rooms, and has a sainsburys on the main street, topshop, boots etc. There's at least one children's playpark up towards the school, possibly many more but I haven't seen them!

You're a short drive from Mount Edgecombe, which is a lovely estate and has massive grounds, the grounds are free and there are loads of lovely areas within it. Cawsand/Kingsand is a wealthier area and has lovely little coves, good for a kids day out but not a rich shopping opportunity.

Worth bearing in mind (if you didn't know!) that the ferry to Plym is free to foot passengers, so you could always go across with a buggy and explore the other side on foot!

I'm afraid I can't help so much (at all) on children's centres etc, but def try the local boards.
