Mixed prep schools with weekend boarders?

Nervous newbie, please direct me if this has been done to death elsewhere. We're military family looking for a mixed prep school for DS and DD in the Hants/Wilts area. From my research most say they have full time boarders but I'd love it if anyone can advise about schools who really do have (happy) children in at weekends?

Hi Scrumper,
There is a FB group which is all forces families who's children currently or have gone to boarding school. Lots of advice and experience on it but I think you need to be added by a current member. My DD goes to a mixed prep in Somerset and is very busy at the weekends, absolutely loves it and it's made such a difference to her. No longer do we get questioned at the end of every school year about her next school. If you want to join and can't find the group or have any other questions let me know.

Have you looked at Windlesham House school in Findon. It is just over the HAnts border in West Sussex? Lots of full boarders, both military and FCO and it is close to Gatwick if you are posted abroad. There are lots of comments about it on mumsnet.

My goddaughter and her brother attended Chilton Cantelo (near Yeovil) as full boarders with the choice to come home at weekends if they wanted. However, quite often they decided to stay at the school over the weekend as they wanted to join in with the activity that had been planned for the weekend boarders.

Put my sons name down at Salisbury cathedral school. It's small and has a very nice family atmosphere. My friends girls go there and can't stop talking about all the exciting things they do an the weekends.

Have a look at Forres Sandle Manor on Wiltshire/Hampshire border. Not full-boarding but a good amount of children in every w/e and good activities to keep them occupied. During exeats the children all have to leave school, which may be a problem for some parents. Also Sandroyd.

Bit late back to the party but all for great advice - the investigations continue.

I've heard very good things about Sandroyd in Wilts. My friends children never want to come home at weekends!

Our friends two children (DS and DD) both go to the lovely Highfield School.
It's pastoral care is fab and the children are really loving it. They do lots of fun stuff and the house parents are lovely. My friend says it's like home from home....what you want telly with a prep school.

It's in Liphook, Hants.
