Leaving forces and married quarters, where do I stand with council house?

If at all? We are moving out of quarters in Easter and going up to Surrey were DH will work self employed, as will I.

Is there any way I can contact someone ahead of time to get on a waiting list for housing?

What is the protocol involved with this, and is there any help I can get with form filling etc?

ThanksThanksThanks In advance

Is there any info on the council website for that area, phone number etc. I would ring them direct and ask how you go about it and get them to send out the relevant forms. Sorry I can't help more. Good luck

Try the JSHAO Joint Services Housing. They will be able to help you and advise you.

Try the SSAFA office at your intended destination.

You need to get your husbands RAO to issue him with a "Certificate of Impending Homelessness". You won't get this until you have given notice to the HASC and a march out date. Your certificate can then have that March out date on it and you can give it to the council etc.

Be warned though, waiting lists are long and if you haven't got a 'reason' to move to Surrey, then your forces status won't count for much.

The quarter was in DH's name but he left and it's now in my name (I am service), but I'm leaving in April. DH is already in Surrey working, so I assume that it will be me with the certificate when I inform HSAC of my march out date?

SSAFA won't be able to pull strings for you, but they will have info on the Council house allocations system in the area.

Unless you have a strong link to that area, you are like to be quite low on the priority list.

We'll be working in that area, but if we have to wait, we have to wait. These things happen.
