Moving to Tidworth

Hi everyone, my family is moving to Perham Down soon and I was wondering if anyone knows the area and has any advice on things to do, primary schools etc? Any local knowledge would be really appreciated! Many thanks.

Not in Tidworth, but nearby. I think Perham Down is the desirable location to live in Tidworth - slightly more rural. There are lots of activities going on for children in the garrison & there's a good leisure centre which runs swimming lessons & gymnastics etc. There's often a waiting list for swimming so it might be worth googling the leisure centre & putting names down, if that's something you want to pursue.

There are a couple of big primary schools (Clarendon & Zouch) in the garrison, but Kimpton (this would probably be your nearest school) and Shipton Bellinger schools are popular choices & some even drive to Netheravon from Tidworth as it's a popular school. The general consensus is that the schools are all pretty good, although Zouch is in special measures, I think.

I have really enjoyed living in the area. It's in between Marlborough & Salisbury & has good road links. There are so many other army communities around that its pretty sociable.

Good luck with the move!
