OMG I am so embarrased

I was crossing a road with my mum, and I saw a man coming towards us from the left. I said "OOh god here's this stupid B&^%$!*d coming, lets wait till he past" (long history)

At this point I looked directly in from of us and there was the station commander , crossing the road towards us.

He'll have heard what I said, and thought it was directed to him! My mum said "Even I know he's someone important, what the hell possesed you to say that then, he'll think you were on about him"

Can you elaborate?

In what way elaborate?

Would a Station Commander even know you though?

It's a small camp

Saltire don't worry someone else will insult by next week and he will forget all about you

That's the sort of faux pas I regularly make Saltire. You could a) ignore it b) go and explain yourself but he might wonder what on earth you're waffling on about c) tell him the story next time you see him in a jokey way (explaining what your mum said etc)...........I'd go with c).

Or failing the above; pretend you have an evil twin and you don't speak English.

This is why I am my DH's worst nightmare, because I don't care less about this sort of thing. I would be just as mortified if a Rifleman heard me say that and thought I meant him. (or not, I probably wouldn't care, after all, I hadn't meant them...)

I'm not in the army, my DH is. Although I appreciate that attidtude probablyu means I am not cut out to be a forces wife...

OH I'd probably have been just as embarassed if an SAC or Sgt passing by had heard me.
