Hi, can anyone tell me on average what the pay rise is from lance cpl to cpl?
Having a 'discussion' and I need to know who is right!!!
Thanks :o

Depends if its higher or lower pay band!

Rates are all available online.

LtEveDallas · 13/07/2011 15:36

also depends what 'level' the LCpl is at

Chulita · 13/07/2011 15:38

pay scales here as swingingcat said and it also depends what level you're on ie. a level 9 Lance jack is paid more than a level 1 sergeant.

Chulita · 13/07/2011 15:39

x-posts, at least we agree Grin

vintageteacups · 13/07/2011 15:59

chulita - the scale shows that a lance corporal doesn't earn more than a level 1 sergeant.

Chulita · 13/07/2011 16:44

sorry, meant top level corporal and sergeant - do forgive me

vintageteacups · 13/07/2011 17:17

Nope - still don't get it. A top level corporal is £29,840 and a bottom level sergeant is £30,012

vintageteacups · 13/07/2011 17:18

If it was the other way around, there would be absolutely no incentive for being promoted surely?

Ah - unless, with annual increments, a top level sergeant could be higher than bottom level sergeant?

MissMiaowington · 13/07/2011 20:32

Sounds like I need to pay more attention to someone when he witters...
No idea what level tbh - I'm useless!!! I'll have a look at the link, thanks!

Levels? Spines? See, this is what I ask about, and he looks at me like I'm very stupid and gives me the bare minimum to shhhhshhhh me up!

ie

I'm a lcpl. I go on a cadre, and then I will be a cpl. I get a bit more money.

Am now on a mission to work out what 'level' he is at, what 'spine' he is on, and I may even attempt to find out where I would stand financially if the unthinkable happened. "urm, I think you'll get about £65k" isn't really being armed with facts and figures is it... Hmm

What capbadge, what trade? Something else that makes a difference I'm afraid. If he is in a technical or specialist trade he will earn more that someone on a basic pay spine.

Without knowing him it is impossible to say with any certainty. Those pay scales give you an idea though.

MissMiaowington · 13/07/2011 21:21

Been digging a bit - PWRR, he's mortars - I read that mortars is specialist, then there was something different about infantry, its all very confusing! He's been in about 8 years now, and is away til Sept so I cant ask :( He's not long been cpl, would that mean he's level 1?

L/Cpl upwards in Infantry is higher payband. Specialist trade.

Husband told me all that!

MissMiaowington · 13/07/2011 21:50

Thank you! And thank you mr swingingcat too!
