Here's hoping the worst of the cuts will be reversed. Good news that the Treasury will be picking up the tab for Libya as well.

That is good news indeed.

Another bit of good news is that the Blue List came out the other day. It was dh's first look and he scored pretty damn well. Smile

Blue list is what? We have promotion zones, and for Cdr to Capt (Lt Col-Col) if you are selected you go into a pool and are only then promoted if there is a requirement for a job to be filled. Given the down sizing again, it ain't going to happen for dh even with a DGEUMS commendation.

Lt Col - Col. Army promote x amount per year. So different to the RN.

Well the sun is shining here which is lovely.

The number on the Blue List varies depending on how many Col appointments they expect to make in the next 12 months plus a few as a margin. It's only med (and perhaps other niche specialists) where you can still have ad hominem promotions on experience/time served and there's a separate ceiling for how many of those there can be in any one year (and medic pay has been decoupled from rank).

On wider SDSR, the press are reporting that no further cuts will have to be found to plug the £1b black hole. Any good rumours on whether anything else is being revisited?

They just need to get it right on CEA, I am fed up of people taking the mick.

goinggetstough · 10/04/2011 11:36

hf128219 I agree totally but I am not sure how you would reword the policy on CEA as people would say they were mobile, but that the MOD didn't choose to move them.... The new rules will help cutting down on fraud I hope, but we will have to see....

hf128219 · 10/04/2011 20:36

It's the people who just take an MQ for show, hang a few pictures, shove some lamps in and a few bits of furniture that get me.

They really need to start logging water, electricity and gas consumption to be able to establish that a family was actually living there full-time.

goinggetstough · 11/04/2011 07:57

hf128219 and then live in their own house near the school.... Arghhhh.
There is a confidential line to report people like this, but never sure if anyone uses it. I think also that COs or similiar have to sign a form to say the family is accompanied. I certainly know of one CO that refused to sign the form for CEA and I have great respect for him as the family were doing exactly what you described. I think there is a certain number of days/nights that the spouse has to be in the quarter to qualify as being accompanied but who would do the counting...
