Retaining a Quarter?

Has anyone ever done this? Does anyone know the likelehood of it happening?

DH is posted in April and I am staying put until later on in the year anyway so that the DC can finish their school year and I can have our baby here as my pregnancy is complicated.

We have permission to keep our pets here, including hens and four dogs, but it seems this will be a problem where we are going. It's possible this can be resolved so we can take all our pets with us, but rehoming is not an option so I am considering staying put otherwise. There are lots of spare/empty quarters where we are now as it's not popular with families (extremely rural) and I know they are short of quarters where my DH is posted. It's also possible DH will return here for his next posting although obviously he might not.

You mean retain it for the full next posting and your DH w/e commute?

I know lots of people that have done it in the past. It depends entirely on the housing sitution locally. You need to speak to your HIC as they are the only ones who can tell you. Also remember that empty houses could be voids, so there not be as many houses actually available as it seems. How old are your DC - have you seen this on retaining an SFA for educational reasons?
