I know I'm being a bit naughty but there's a current thread on AIBU about whether forces personnel should be allowed to go into fast track teaching degree ahead of civvies.

Gosh - some people have a very unrealistic view of what serving personnel are like!

Scary thank you Grin I didn't post on that thread because you said everything more eloquently than I could have done! I couldn't get the words out for the feathers I was spitting Grin

Madwoman - I was only joking Wink.

Although, obviously as a noun, dimmer is a light switch but as an adjective, I don't know.

I'm famous for making grammar up as I go along so I'm sure dimmer is a word!

One of the scariest things a military DW/DP could say:

"Darling, I love you so much I've ironed all your uniforms"

jcscot · 04/03/2011 21:17

I deliberately ironed tramlines in the husband's uniform the first week we were married and I've never had to do them again (we've been married eleven years now).

Why waste all that lovely RMAS training with an ironing board? Wink

madwomanintheattic · 04/03/2011 22:23

oh, me too vintage. i think of it as evolution of language, rather than bastardisation. Grin

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 05/03/2011 08:28
Shock

Am I the only wifey who irons DH's uniforms when I can be bothered?

LtEveDallas · 05/03/2011 08:36

Hello snap, I'll go one better. My Ex Army DH irons MY uniforms! Woo Hoo, I may keep him for a while! (although he refuses to iron anything 'flouncy or frilly', so I have trained DD to wear leggings and tshirts 90% of the time)

Question. Are DH and I both dim? Does 2 x dim = clever or just twice as stupid?

CaveMum · 05/03/2011 09:35

I'm not allowed to iron DH's uniform. Apparently I don't do it to a high enough standard [whistles nonchalantly]

SnapFrakkleAndPop · 05/03/2011 11:10

Is that on purpose, cavemum? Wink

You're into a very good thing there, eve! Assuming they meet your standards of course...

mpsw · 05/03/2011 11:48

LtEveDallas: if he doesn't do frills, then I suppose he wasn't RGR - they're just like Marines for cross-dressing!

My DH is just like Mr CaveMum: I'm not allowed near his uniform or shirts. And to be fair, he is much better at ironing than I am.

LtEveDallas · 05/03/2011 13:47

mpsw - not RGR no; his Regt were the ones with floppy hair, moleskin trousers, gingham shirts and tweed jackets - but weren't quite far enough up the line for royalty! Wink

He is without a doubt the scruffiest (and most unfashionable) man I know - but hey, he does the ironing so I'll forgive him anything! Smile

victoriascrumptious · 05/03/2011 19:36

I'm amazed that so many of you have the time to get annoyed by things on MN. In fact i'm shocked that many of you are here at all.

Do your husbands know?

OfflineFor30Seconds · 05/03/2011 19:45

I'm amazed that you clearly think it's funny to wind up people whose OH's may be on deployment (or who may be about to be deployed themselves).

mpsw · 05/03/2011 19:58

Offline: stay calm. VS just raves and raves. Ignore.

victoriascrumptious · 05/03/2011 20:04

Heh offinefor30. You're solider mawkishness doesn't work on me. I'm immune.

Yes of course I think it's funny. I think everything is funny mate. Especially funny are people who think they are above having the piss ripped out of them.

victoriascrumptious · 05/03/2011 20:06

Pssssst mpsw!
I see you there concentrating on ignoring me.

Keep up the good work

hf128219 · 05/03/2011 20:06

VS Take the piss as much as you like. Forces wives are made of pretty strong stuff - we have to be.

scaryteacher · 05/03/2011 20:13

Hf, VS is a marine - the dry humping as an interest on his profile gave it away.

Why shocked we are here VS? Having cooked dinner , and got bored reading, I am now on the computer for a bit. Dh laughs, just as I laugh at some of the websites he frequents (cars and things).

mpsw · 05/03/2011 20:28

He'll run back to the NAAFI bar soon enough.

OfflineFor30Seconds · 05/03/2011 20:29

I'm more wound up that VS doesn't know the difference between your and you're. Poor grammar really pisses me off! Grin

victoriascrumptious · 05/03/2011 20:33

Scaryteacher-the very fact that you are keen to point out to me that you actually have cooked dinner says it all.

Well done girly.

mpsw · 05/03/2011 20:36

Scary: not (hushed voice) STW, is it?

hf128219 · 05/03/2011 20:42

If you go down to the woods today

scaryteacher · 05/03/2011 21:25

Says what VS? That the cook has the night off?
