hello everyone,

as the title says really, DP went off to Afghan in March, 5 days before DS was born, his R&R is not for another 4 weeks, and have really got to the point when I'm missing him terribly......think the horrible bit is, he hasn't seen DS yet and he will be nearly 5 months when he does see his Daddy for the first time

sorry for the depressing thread

No... don't worry about the thread being depressing its more about getting those feelings out in to open cos it makes you feel better! My dh has been away since April and I have 4 weeks until he comes back.. we have three dcs... ds1, dd1 and ds2... I have been lucky enough to not give birth while has been away although our youngest is only 1 and he is worried that he won't know who he is... but I don't think that its going to affect ds 2 very much at all!!

I know how you feel as I am missing dh terribly also and can't wait until he returns... I keep a calender that helps me count down the days and that seems to help with the missing part...

I hope this comments gives you some comfort!!!

Keep your chin up! xxx

It is awful ... and I think in someways the final stretch is the hardest. Everyone starts saying, "Not long now." It may not be - but you have had months of being on your own, and it is still another 4 weeks. And some people can't cope with a day or 2 on their own.

DH came back last weekend after 8 months (2 separate weeks back here, one of which I was working). It is great to have him back, but we are definitely going through a readjustment spell.

good luck, and try and do some fun things with friends and your DS over the next few weeks. Watch the chick flicks that he would hate!

HoopsAndBaby I know what your saying there... am planning already!!! Have started counting down the days with the children on a calender! Am always the same towards the end of a deployment like a child at christmas time... I really just can't wait...
