What shall I do with 6 yolks?

hollandaise sauce or mayonnaise.
fairy cakes making up for the lack of whites with some water (they don't rise as much but taste ok and its what my mum used to do)

Umami · 07/07/2010 20:13

Mmm, hollandaise, yes, thank you! Or bearnaise maybe. I wonder if that gives me an excuse to buy steak?

custard, and therefore ice cream! Whenever i make custard, or anything else yolk-y i freeze the whites then make pavlova when i have enough. Now i want pavlova...

Another good idea. Wonder where the bowl for ice-cream maker is? I'm thinking coconut ice-cream. Yuuuuuuummmmmmmmmm.

Chocolate mousse?

lizziemun · 07/07/2010 21:28

Biscuits.

175g/6oz soften butter
50g/2oz castor sugar
50g/2oz icing sugar
2 egg yolks
2 tsp vanilla extract
300g/11oz plain flour

Preheat oven 200c/180c/gas 6.

Mix butter, sugars, egg yolks and vanilla until creamy, then mix in flour in 2 batches.

Roll into 22 walnut size balls.

Cook for 15mins.

You could add orange/lemon zest. Or

Roll into 20cm x 30cm rectangle and sprinkle with 2tbsp demerara sugar and 2tsp cinnamon gently press into dough and roll up.

Chill for 30mins.

Cut into 20 biscuits.

Cook for 10-12 mins.

Or freeze dough in roll until needed.

Have made a 4-egg pav this evening. Heavenly.

Am going to fry the 4 yolks for my breakfast tomorrow.

make a rhubarb fool with custard and cream or goosberry fool or strawberry fool - I like fools

Umami · 07/07/2010 21:37

You are all making me very hungry! At this rate I can see me ending up with excess whites

Love the curd idea, Waswondering. I've quite a few limes that need using. I was going to do a chocolate pav with cherries as it's the height of the Kent cherry season. Chocolate, cherry and lime? Does that sound weird?
