Hiya

I am running out of meal ideas of what to feed my 4 and half years old DD. She loves pasta but she refused to eat anything with cooked tomatoes which is a bit of palaver since most children pasta recipes are tomato orientated but she sure likes fresh tomatoes! .

She likes: fish / shellfish / white meat / mincemeat / olives / garlic / most veg / dairy based sauces

Dislikes: Pastry / Mushrooms / Peppers / Courgettes / onions / mild curried or chilli flavours

Anyone knows a website that provide tomato free pasta recipes? please give me suggestions of receipes! Many thanks

If she likes fresh tomatoes, you can use these.

Cook spaghetti (or pasta of your/her choice), and when cooked, mix with halved cherry tomatoes, some olive oil and chopped, fresh basil. Also lovely with some diced mozzarella thrown in at the last minute.

Pasta with pesto and any veg she'll eat.

Pasta with marscapone/creme fraiche, prawns and/or smoked salmon and any veg she'll eat.

Spinach and cheese sauce?

Chop and fry onion until soft (sometimes add mushrooms) Wilt bag of spinach and put everything in food processor. Add some grated nutmeg, couple of dollops of cream cheese and grated parmesan or cheddar (or whatever cheese you have)and blitz together until smooth.

Very quick, very easy and every child I have given this to loves it. It freezes very well too so I always make sure I have some in stock.

Spinach and soft cheese (Boursin) whizzed together. Needs no cooking.

I also find Boursin and red peppers works too. (it's quite sweet)

this is good and popular with kids

oops - unfortunate that she doesn't like red peppers, courgettes and mushrooms as they are what I use to make an ersatz tomato sauce, along with olives! I don't eat tomatoes as they give me shocking acid reflux, so we are quite inventive with pasta sauces.

Carbonara without the mushrooms could work (bacon, egg and cheese sauce);
pesto and parmesan as already mentioned;
butter and black pepper;
tuna mayonnaise and sweetcorn is always a good one;
DH does a great seafood one with prawns, scallops and baby octopus but that is going to be a lot harder for you to do cheaply in the UK (we're in Oz);
mince with chopped onions (very finely so DS can't see them), carrots and green beans, made with gravy and sometimes wholegrain mustard.

We also do one with turkey cream and mushrooms - you could do that if you could find an alternative for the mushrooms.

HTH.
