Strawberries and Blueberries

I just got loads for cheap, but now can't decide what to do with them. If DD1 gets hold of them, she will eat them all and all hell will break loose, nappy-wise. I'm getting married in two months- anything freezable that will go towards that would be good.

You could turn them into jam... traditional method for preserving fruit. If you freeze them as they are you'll be able to use them as pie-fillings afterwards... freezing tends to break down the cell structure in soft fruit. You could turn them into ice-cream...keep that for the wedding?

I'd agree with Chil - home made jam with scones & cream for the wedding would be lovely.

Assuming you have frozen them, making a smoothie using frozen berries is a proper treat. Half berries, half any kind of fruit juice. No ice (the berries are the ice). You get a thick, slushy smoothie that is perfect in this weather.

I had a load of berries the other day and made a compote as an addition to a lemon cheesecake. Threw a handful of berries, a spoon of sugar, a couple of nips of cassis in a small pan and cooked until compotey.
