solids day 6 - too late to turn back?

DD2 is 22wks 18.2 lbs and exclusively bf till last saturday when in exasperation at lack of sleep (feeds every 2-3 hrs all night) we introduced some baby rice. DD1 also started solids at same age - very successfully so didn't anticipate a problem.

DD2 then came down with a heavy cold and hasn't really been interested in the rice - prob had less than a teaspoon each day. I'm not convinced that she's ready as she's still forcing her food out with her tongue reflex and can't sit unsupported, although she is reaching for food and watching us eat. It's made no difference to night feeding so now regretting it

Question is - will it do any harm to just give up on solids and try again in a few weeks / months?

Thanks for any advice

none whatsoever, do what you think is best.

Not too late at all I had false starts with both of mine and stopped for a bit and tried aain.
DS stopped the longest time but neither of them looked back or missed it TBH.

I'd try something other than baby rice next time. Lots of babies (my own son included) don't like it because it's pretty tasteless, awful stuff A little teaspoon of pureed apple or banana might be more tempting.

Thanks all. I know it's common sense, but sleep deprivation has robbed me of mine so thanks for the advice here! Chil you're right - baby gruel rice looks pretty unappealing so we'll try something nicer next time!!
