I've been tempted to send him to Leiths to try out the 'knife skills' one, but wonder if that'll just lead to major knife-buying expeditions!

Anyone know if there are short (1 day max) courses that could interest him?

If he's into fish (and early mornings), I can recommend the courses held at Billingsgate fish market.

Not sure I can 'sell' the early morning, but he'd love a fish one. Thanks for your help, off to google for more info now.

Or bread?

DH did the Jamie knife skills one at Recipease in Brighton, there is one in Clapham too, it was only a couple of hours but a good taster and not too expensive

A friend did the Rick Stein one and loved it. She went with family to Padstow and left them to it whilst she did the 2 day course. Greta if you love fresh fish.
