Jam Maker?

My mum has just bought me a Jam Maker from Lidl today. Do you think it will be any good? I am not sure if it actually boils your jam or if you just use it sterilise the jars?

I've got a sinking thinking that it will sit at the back of the cupboard with the rest of the junk wonderful presents my mum buys!

Have never heard of such a thing. Round here the only Jam Maker is me . . .

Actually, have just looked and found this and this. Bizarre thought - have never considered that making jam was that difficult nor that it needed anything but a big saucepan .

(However, I can't stand breadmakers nor the bread they make, and I know a lot of people love them.)

LOL - I know what you mean Takver I've just used a saucepan and thermometer in the past so can't see what benefit I'm going to get from it. Bless my mum - her house is full of these useless gadgets and now she's running out of space I'm getting them!

I have a breadmaker that also claims to make jam. It lurks at the back of the cupboard. I prefer my handmade bread and jam. yum yum!

Giant pan and saucer here - who needs a thermometer?

Made jam last night acherly!

Some people seem to love them, but I can't imagine how you would ever need to make enough jam to need one - I'm still working on the bramble jelly I made last year!

I wonder if it's like my rice cooker - I never imagined that rice was awkward enough to need a separate machine to make it, but then I got a rice cooker and don't ever want to do without it!

Rice is very complicated imo. My rice cooker is dh!
