Help needed for afternoon entertaining

Hi
I'm having my antenatal class round for a get together next week in the afternoon and I don't know what to serve food wise. I was thinking about getting a nice cake in but my OH insists I need to serve something savoury as well. The last few meet ups we've had have have all been quite different. One had a full spread, the other was drinks and biscuits and another was we all took a snack along.
I really don't want to go OTT nor do I want to look stingy!

Any advice? I am no good at baking or cooking btw so it will be the baker or supermarket!
~TIA

What has it got to do with your OH?

We just had cakes and some biscuits.

He's my husband, the two of us have invited people round and he is helping me organise.

Cakes and biscuits sounds like a good idea.

Oh, I thought it was just the mums. [oops]

Easy to do and everyone likes cake.

Dads are coming as well.

Cake it is then!

How about some olives, French bread, celery, radishes etc with a couple of baked camemberts? Followed by a chocolate cake, a lemon tart and some berries?

Agree re cheese and french bread platter followed by cakes and berries.

Maybe some dips too?

Thanks for the ideas everyone!

Am I too late? If you are having people over in the afternoon it has to be cucumber sandwiches then scones, no?
