Oat Bran

I may be being a bit dim.

I've got a recipe for a oat bran galette, can I use ordinary porridge oats, or is oat bran something different?

I misread the title - I thought it said "Oi Bran". I thought "how rude".

Oat bran is something different from porridge oats, it's more powdery.

It's different, much finer. I recently bought some in Waitrose (think it was Mornflake brand), it was in the cereals aisle.

Thanks, I thought it might be, I looked on the ocado site and couldn't see anything, I might have to wait until I can get into Holland and Barrett, it sounds like the sort of thing they might have.

I'll have another look on Ocado though,
maybe if I search for mornflake.....

Oat bran is indeed something different. You buy it from health food shops. Oat bran is the husk of the oat, I think.

Is the mornflake stuff pure oatbran? Not sure it is

If you insist on doing this Durkan diet, please be aware of the following

  1. The oatbran galette is one of the most disgusting things you have ever eaten. As you might expect from a recipe that calls for 1 tablespoon of aspartame
  1. Don't drink any alcohol at all. Just don't. I ended up head-swimmingly disgustingly drunk from one glass of white wine. Carbs absorb alcohol. No carbs means instant drunkenness from a teaspoonful of alcohol
  1. When he tells you what brand of mineral water to drink (Vittel good, Badoit and San Pellegrino bad) trust your instincts because it is nuts

Good luck

I wasn't planning to do the Dukan diet, I'm a slimming world devotee and a vegetarian so I need my carbs, everyday's a green day for me .

I just thought I'd try this recipe - but maybe I won't bother traising around looking for oatbran if it's disgusting.

It is ok and I have it instead of porridge for breakfast. Tesco sell it in the cereal aisle - their own brand in a clear package.
