Have decided on dessert and sort of decided on starter but looking for something for main course. You'd think I didn't have a bookcase full of cookbooks, wouldn't you?

What is your starter and dessert?

londonmackem · 11/06/2010 19:09

Roast lamb - something you can pretty much leave. Maybe nothing too heavy as weather will be nice. i would do a BBQ as am lazy!

taffetacat · 11/06/2010 19:47

Whole big fish barbequed over fennel leaves

New potato salad with ex v oo, sherry vinegar, spring onions

chipmonkey · 11/06/2010 23:16

Well, we don't have a barbecue at the moment and probably won't have time to get one. Otherwise would have gone with that option.
Also in Ireland, not really counting on the weather being nice!
Starter is mozzarella, peach and prosciutto salad
Dessert is a complicated Raymond Blanc thing, can't remember what it's called except it starts with Diplomate.. sort of a complicated summer pudding. Will be making that on Saturday!

All in all will be us, dh and I and four kids, Guests 2 adults and one dc.

As you are in Ireland Dunnes are selling chickens 2 for Euro 6 this weekend you could do lemon and black pepper roast chicken with new potatoes [finish by roasting quickly in the chicken fat] and a nice tossed salad, the weather is supposed to pick up here for the weekend

Buzzybb · 12/06/2010 00:05

Or chicken with 40 cloves of garlic is different and yummy

chipmonkey · 12/06/2010 00:54

I have a recipe for chicken with 40 cloves of garlic but don't know if it would go down well with the dh of this couple who is not fond of strong flavours.

Think I may actually do cog au vin.........

chipmonkey · 12/06/2010 02:14

Coq not cog! I am holding you to that weather forecast, buzzy!

Coq au vin sounds great esp with green salad but make it tonight so that you can quality taste the wine, I am in West Cork we are in summer wear here this morning and have been for a walk as well.

chipmonkey · 12/06/2010 19:26

Love West Cork! My dsis lives in Cork city but we don't get there half often enough. Don't worry, I am adept at quality tasting wine!
