I've got a kohlrabi in this week's veg box and I'm always a bit stumped by them. Has anybody got any brilliant ideas? Thanks.

If its really fresh and still quite young you could slice it and eat it raw, in a salad, with a dip, tossed with raw fennel and vinaigrette.

If not you could cut it into strips and cook it in a minestrone type soup.

You could boil it or braise it and then add dome sort of cheese sauce or tomato sauce.

I think if I only had one I would be tempted to add it to a chicken or fish dish and let it cook in the juices, in much the same way that you could use fennel or leek.

I really like the kohlrabi and apple salad here

Other suggestions there too, which might inspire you.

We usually have it in a stirfry.

Hmm, thanks. I've got a bulb of fennel too. Maybe I could combine them... Was thinking of doing the fennel with fish...

I usually do a stirfy - although a salad sounds nice. Or could you grate it and use it to make coleslaw?

if it is really fresh just cut it into fingers and eat raw, maybe with a yoghurt and mint dip. if not just steam it and eat with cheesy sauce.

In the end it went into a fish lasagne along with the fennel. Some good ideas on here to remember for future though! Thanks.
