Alternatives to supermarkets - help please!

I would like (I think) to start buying most of our food from butchers/farmers markets etc but I'm completely novice, I have been recommend a good butcher a bit of a drive from us but I wondered if there's a good place to find out (online or similar) where I can find out about farmers markets and other (if any) alternatives to supermarket chains.

there is a farmers market association. Try typing that into google.

Look for 'green grocers' in your area.
