Got a great one for slow cooker but could be done in oven:

1 tbsp veg oil
2lbs stewing steak, cubed
3 large onions
4 cloves garlic
1/2 teasp cinnamon
1/2 teasp allspice
3 tbsp red wine vinegar
1 tin tomates - pureed
1 teasp sugar
1 bayleaf
1 block crumbled feta

  1. Brown beef in oil and put in slow cooker
  2. Brown onions until soft, add garlic and spices and cook 1 minute
  3. Add vinegar, tomates, sugar and bayleaf
  4. Add it all to the meat and cook. (Helpfully I don't have length of time it needs cooking )
  5. Add feta 10 mins before serving
  6. Enjoy!!

Haven't made it for ages but its lovely and making me drool - time for bed or I'm going to raid the cupboards

Ive seen the JO one and was going to follow that but if you have a more authentic one ALYPALY I'd love to see that - Im planning on cooking this for tom evening but I think you ahve to marinate the beef overnight

heat 3 tbsp olive oil in flameproof casserole dish and fry meat gently.
Lift meat out with slatted spoon.
Add remaining oil and fry onions and garlic for 2-3 mins.
Stir in tomato puree, wine ,red wine vinegar and sugar and return the meat to the pan.

Tie cloves, cumin seeds and cinnamon in a piece of muslin and put in casserole with bay leaves.
Season and cover with lid.
Put cassserole in preheated oven at 325 degrees F or 170 degrees C and cook for 1 and 1/2 hours stirring occasionally.
Peel the small onions and cook in boiling salted water for 2 mins. Drain and add to casserole. Cook for a further hour or until meat is tender.
Remove casserole from oven and take out bag of spices. stir in lemon juice and re season. Sprinkle with chopped coriander and serve with crusty bread or rice or greek potatoes.
