Chicken / food safety question, help please!

Bought a chicken yesterday, woman at counter put it into a plastic bag for me, I only opened it this afternoon. The cellophane that the chicken was packaged in was torn, there was a big gaping hole in it.

Is there any reason this would make it unsafe to eat? Rationally I can't think why it would but chicken makes me nervous anyway.

It's been a bit of a shitty day - the last thing I need now is to give everyone food poisoning!

TIA

Personally (but sometimes I could be a bit too relaxed), I think it should be fine as long as its cooked through ok - presumably its been in the fridge anyway ?

Has it been in the fridge since you bought it? If you only bought it yesterday and it doesn't smell, it should be fine.

Hi, thanks. It was in the fridge the whole time. I roasted it and we ate it this evening so we shall see!
