Off to a bring-a-bottle-and-a-plate do at the weekend and was thinking of doing maybe two or three different canapes

Would anyone like to share their nice tasty and easy to make recipes please? (probably to serve cold)

These are my favourite things to make, but they only suit certain occasions

olive penguins

Sadly they don't taste as good as they look.

small mushrooms
put some philly cheese in them (the herb one is nice)
Top with a mix of parmesan cheese and breadcrumbs then put in the grill until cheese is melted.
I HATE mushrooms and will eat these.

You've GOT to serve vol-au-vents. 'Tis the law

You can use green olives and make parrots for the summer (but they're not as cute)

Mini sweet peppers stuffed with feta cheese are heavenly.

oooh liking the mushrooms and peppers ideas

PMSL @ vol-au-vonts (would NOT know where to start!) and parrots !

Marinate some decent quality and quite big prawns in lime, shallots, coriander and chilli and then grill and stick on cocktail sticks.

Be all posh and do a French Laundry canape -- grate lots of parmesan, put 2tsp little circles of it on greaseproof paper, bake for a few mins in a hot oven. The cheese forms little circles which you can lift off with a spatula. They crisp up in a tupperware box and are delish.

Easy classic is to get a french stick, slice thinly, toast and spread with tapenade.

thinly slice french bread or ciabatta sticks toast then top with cream cheese, smoked salmon and dill...de-lish
