Dining out

As someone who really enjoys the whole event of eating out, being sociable over food and just generally having a natter. I wondered how often everyone else eats out and when you do, what kind of restaurants you enjoy the most?

After the last few bills we have decided to drop the idea.

Had Sunday lunch for both myself and hubby 1 child 2 large glasses of wine £80!!!!

Saturday lunch and 1 glass of wine £60!!!

Before going there fill the car with diesal £70. A full shop at supermarket £120...
Very expensive and no longer justifiable weekend luxury.

The problem being to get good food you got to pay and its half of a weekly shop. As a semi-decent cook I want to be impressed....forget it!

I am reading this as I sit in Ask having dinner all by myself!!! Massive row with DH, I stormed out and decided to treat myself. Lovely stuffed mushrooms, great pizza and a huge glass of Shiraz. Grrrr...men

We eat out as a family every saturday (mainly because I refuse to cook on a saturday).
We normally go to Nando's but if me and dh are just together we love Wagamamas

I do. Its best when its just me and DP. We only do it once in a while and when we do, we don't worry about how much. We love nice food and love not having to cook or wash up.

We love a place called Oscars French Bistro, its the only place in the world where I can taste garlic. Gotta love French cooking.

I agree with you bacon, I love to cook, so it's important when I do venture out, I enjoy the food more than I would at home.

Pinky, sorry to hear you had dinner all by yourself, I would have joined you . At least you can be comforted in the knowledge that you're eating towards a good cause as ASK have partnered up with Great Ormond Street Hospital. You can read more about it here including the voucher offer.

ant3 where is that restaurant? I LOVE French food

Its in Leamington Spa. Its a bit more English-ified than a lot of places we've been to but we've always had great service and the prices (I think) are fairly reasonable.

They also do an Auberge night on Tuesdays where serve more traditional dishes and push all the tables together so you socialise with everyone in the room. Its not for everyone but it is quite fun when you've had a few drinks and get chatting.

That sounds like a great way to meet new people, thanks! I'm based in London but if I'm ever in the Leamington Spa, I'll look it up.

We love to go out maybe a couple times of month but do our best to not pay 'full price' for our meals (i.e find money off vouchers, or have an early bird special etc) I think its lovely to go out, a real treat and also teaches children how to behave well in restaurants (sometimes we go out with other children and some of them behave really badly largely because they don't go out enough and haven't learnt good manners)
