Please help, I am at my wits end with my 15 month old who has started refusing to be put in the hghchair for meals. She gets hysterical and will now only eat when sitting on my lap which is getting really hard work. I've tried getting tough but It's not working, she is just refusing food. Any suggestions?

move her to a booster chair?

do you let her feed herself?

I don't think forcing her to eat in a high chair is worth the candle TBH. Just let her eat where she wants, put the food in front of her and let her get on with it. I don't think you can separate control over manners / method to control over eating/food at this age. Could she eat from a proper chair with a booster seat? Could you get her a little chair and table that she could have more freedom? Could she have a mat on the floor with a picnic? I think this is the age when they start to want to do exactly as mummy / daddy do and not the baby version.

There are some battles I choose e.g. I've never given in to DS on not wanting to get in his buggy but this is not one that I would.

IME.

agree with trying a booster seat maybe?

Neither of mine would do a highchair. You'd think we were murdering them. Booster chair saved us. One with a detachable tray so they can sit at the table or use the tray but I think the height of it and it being attached to a chair like the rest of the family use - just makes them feel part of the family meal times.

Thank you! Yes have tried these, but think will just have to accept that she's going through a stroppy phase. I've been lucky so far as she's been such a good eater it can be quite scary when you think they've not had enough to eat. It seems they're always changing.
