What is your opinion in feeding it to little ones?

It often has more vitamins than 'fresh' veg you buy from supermarkets which has often been hanging around for daysa.

Nbg · 04/08/2005 16:44

I always keep a bag of those birds eye steam fresh ones in just in case.

WigWamBam · 04/08/2005 16:45

Agree with Hercules - frozen veg is fine, it's often got more goodness than fresh veg.

Microwaving it saves even more vitamins too.

mumtosomeone · 04/08/2005 16:49

Was feeling a bit guilty about giving it to him, but I dont get to buy fresh every day and he loves it!

katymac · 04/08/2005 22:24

And have you discovered frozen...

chopped onions
peppers
mushroons

make casseroles, omlettes and stirfrys so easy

LilacLotus · 04/08/2005 22:27

i freeze my own. blanche the veg, let them cool and put in freezerbags. easy!

hunkermunker · 04/08/2005 22:38

Absolutely fine, often fresher than the stuff that's been hanging round on the shelves. Tesco do organic frozen veg too

gingerbear · 04/08/2005 22:39

Best to cook it first. Bit crunchy otherwise

lunachic · 04/08/2005 22:45

its fine occasionally very handy better than tins
read that frozen peas were the most nutritious frozen food you can get !?? (honestly !)

hunkermunker · 04/08/2005 22:45

I sometimes eat frozen peas raw. Nice, but probably killing me slowly or some other horror story.

nannyjo · 04/08/2005 22:48

freezing locks in the vitamins i think,

Taste nicer than some fresh stuff to like peas. yum

Milge · 04/08/2005 22:50

If you only shop once a week as i do, a lot of the "fresh" veg lose their vitamins by the time they are cooked 5 or 6 days later. Frozen mixed veg are my lifeline for the kids - i use a bag at least every 10 days.
