recipe for bisquit base please...

title says it all...want to make a fruit cake for my birthday... until now I have always used a shop bought base but thought it should be quite simple to do that myself.

I'm confused, sponge cakes don't have a biscuit base.

Do you mean like this, which is a victoria sponge or this which is a fruit flan
I had a feeling there was a language barrier going on

I want do cover the the sponge base with custard, put on fresh fruit and glaze with thickened fruit juice.

Sonilaa, I make it like this:

Basic sponge recipe like this cooked in a wide metal flan dish

Topped with confectioner's custard (creme patisserie)like this

Topped with fruit eg redcurrants, and icing sugar.
