You can cook pizza make/buy pizza base cook one side turn over add toppings and leave to heat through. What kind of bbq do you have we used to cook lamb wrapped in most of a roll of tinfoil buried in coals and cooked for 40 to the pound. Spatchcock chicken, marinaded pork/chicken/ prawns bbq'd corn, steak Boston baked beans, fish [trout or something similar]
Hope that helps

Buy as good quality as you can afford. So (again, if possible, obv), avoid supermarket meats - go to your butcher for chops etc. It's shocking what a difference in taste it makes, and might be worth the additional cost for a special occasion.

Avoid burgers completely. Some good suggestions on here already.

Make sure the table is beautifully presented, so that it's good food prepared and enjoyed outside vs just another bbq.

a nice BBQ Brisket, some ribs, cheesy potato skins
lamb or chicken kebabs with tazaki, hummus, salsa, chicken, bacon and blue cheese salad.
honey mustard chicken drums.
burgers are nice HM, not shop bought. yuk!
you can flavour them with dry rub mix, or jerk seasoning etc.

hotdogs are great aswell, with loads of caramalised onions and mustard, drool.

( thinks about inventing a reason for family BBQ hmm )
