When you do beef in a slow cooker do you brown the meat and soften onion etc first or just put it all in?

bung it all in together, never bother to brown meat first

Was thinking beef, onions, carrots, mushrooms, beer, a stock cube and black pepper and a bay leaf. Does that sound about right?

Sounds great - just bung it all in.

About to put on sausage casserole in mine!

yum, maybe add the mushrooms later in the day cos they will cook quickely

OK, supplementary question, if I may?! This is actually for tomorrow night's dinner. That's OK, isn't it? Was planning to cook it slowly today, stick it in fridge tonight and reheat it tomorrow evening on high?

should be fine I think, you're planning ahead! I haven't thought of todays lunch yet!

Not usually that organised but hate the "OMG it's 5.30pm and I have absolutely no idea what we're going to eat" stress. Plus I have a mad day tomorrow and it's the only way any of us will eat...
