Carte Noir.

TripleThreatIcansingIcandanceI · 05/05/2010 13:23

Dpends how strong you like it?

I like Nescafe Alta Rica.

theITgirl · 05/05/2010 13:23

I like cafe direct

titchy · 05/05/2010 13:40

2nd Carte Noir. rich and creamy!

meltedmarsbars · 06/05/2010 14:09

Percol - makes me feel better because its fairtrade.

notasize10yetbutoneday · 06/05/2010 14:25

We've ben having Douwe Egberts instant coffee which I really like, but then I don't like really strong coffee.

Pinkmarshmallow · 06/05/2010 15:50

Anything other than Carte Noir is not worth drinking IMO.

BecauseIAgreeWithGordon · 06/05/2010 15:51

No such thing. Buy a cafetiere and some decent ground coffee!

FiveOrangePips · 06/05/2010 15:54

Co-op organic fairtrade is the only one I like, I don't like any nescafe at all. Clipper organic is okay.

JustBlameSue · 06/05/2010 15:54

douwe egberts Pure Indulgence.

That is if is has to be instant.

Otherwise get a coffee maker and the world is your oyster for really good coffees.

FiveOrangePips · 06/05/2010 15:56

Cafetiere coffee is nice, but I am too lazy to make it every day.

mountainmonkey · 06/05/2010 15:58

I like cafe direct too.

BecauseIAgreeWithGordon · 06/05/2010 16:00

Not hard though, fiveorangepips - get cafetiere out, add spoonful of coffee, pour on boiling water, plunge and serve.

Takes seconds longer than making instant.

And so much nicer!

Ivykaty44 · 06/05/2010 16:01

get really coffee it is hardly difficult and less chemicals

Wiseoldelf · 06/05/2010 16:07

I never drink instant at home - most instants don't even taste like coffee.

I agree with gordon! No more hassle making a cafetiere than instant - don't really get the problem.

MrsJohnDeere · 06/05/2010 16:18

Has to be real coffee.

Tortington · 06/05/2010 16:19

cart noir

FiveOrangePips · 06/05/2010 16:35

For one cup of coffee a day it is more hassle and having to wash the cafetiere afterwards too, I like a cafetiere coffee, but not that much.

BecauseIAgreeWithGordon · 06/05/2010 16:47

How is more hassle? I really don't understand! 1 tablespoon of coffee = 1 cup of coffee.

Tip used grounds down the sink and rinse.

(Although if you're only a one cup per day person, perhaps you just don't 'get' coffee! )

SecretPollingBooth · 06/05/2010 16:49

kenco
real coffee is never hot enough
and surely you can't tip the grounds down the sink?
and then you have to wash the cafetioere and the sink's full of coffee for days as it goers everywhere

InThisSequinBraYesYouOlaJordan · 06/05/2010 18:00

I like Nescafe Alta Rica but don't buy it for political reasons ( but sometimes have it at my Mum's ) A good substitute for that is Kenco Costa Rican blend but I do use more than a teaspoonful.

Agree about a cafetiere being more faff but fresh coffee nicer

BecauseIAgreeWithGordon · 06/05/2010 18:03

Cafetiere coffee is just as hot as instant as you make it the same way - pour boiling water onto coffee and serve immediately.

Why can't you tip the grounds down the sink? I do that every time I make coffee. And it goes down the plughole very quickly - it's only a tablespoon of grounds per cup so not loads. (If you're really worried about doing this, just tip it in the bin - it's just the same as throwing a tea bag away).

Washing the cafetiere is a matter of rinsing out - nothing more.

However, if you won't be persuaded, you just carry on drinking instant!

SecretPollingBooth · 06/05/2010 20:05

I do actually prefer instant
I use a coffee machine - maybe the water's not boiling when it goes through?

VoteOliviaMumsnet · 06/05/2010 20:08

Douwe Egberts
I have a very £££££ snazzy coffee machine bought by my DH but tis SUCH a faff to clean I rely on instant more often than not and DE tastes q good as instants go.

ManicMother7777 · 06/05/2010 21:12

Nestle Alta Rica or Espresso
