You know the gorgeous chewy one with some choc chunks.
I am good at baking cakes, but my biscuits always turn out dreadful, so i need a fail safe recipe.

Any help please.......

Smarties Cookies (you could probably substitute the smarties for choc chips)

350g plain flour
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
1 tsp baking powder
250g butter, softened
300g caster sugar
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 tubes Smarties

Preheat oven to 180C/160C for a fan/gas mark 4.
Sift the flour, bicarbonate of soda, baking powder and a pinch of salt into a mixing bowl.
Cream together the butter and sugar in a separate bowl until pale and fluffy, then beat in the egg and vanilla extract. Gradually beat in the sifted dry ingredients to form a stiff dough.
Roll the dough into 10 ball, then place on baking sheets spaced well apart.
Press several Smarties into each ball, flattening them slightly.
Bake for 15min until pale golden brown.
Leave for 2min to firm up a little, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
