Baking mishap

I have just managed to melt a couple of centimetres of plastic spatula into my flapjack mix. The spatula is white so I can't see it to fish it out. Is it still ok to eat the flapjacks do you think?

OTTMummA · 27/04/2010 19:25

it would solidify as the flapjacks cool, so you will know when you bite into it lol.
but if they taste gross yeah bin them.

What colour is your flapjack and how did you melt a utensil into it?

JackBauer · 27/04/2010 19:39

How hot was your flapjack mix? And flapjacks are normally brown, so if they are white I woudln't eat them anyway.
Or cut out the bit the spatula melted into and eat the rest.

I was heating the butter, sugar and syrup in a pan then I used the spatula to scrape the sides of the pan. I've eaten a couple and suffered no ill effects so am sure it'll be fine.
